Sightseeing

Ukraine is rich in history, nature and traditions. Over the last two millennia a lot has happened on its territory. Medieval castles, beautiful opera houses and modern passenger terminals, naval submarine bases and deserted pillboxes, monasteries and cathedrals, cave towns and catacombs, museums and palaces. Unique lakes, full-flowing rivers, mountains. The Opera Houses in Odessa and Lvov are considered among the few most beautiful ones in Europe along with those in Austria and Germany. Old castles in Western Ukraine are a popular place for shooting historical movies. Balaclava (a small town part of Sevastopol) boasts a unique view of a water town like Venice, a formerly secret Soviet submarine base inside a mountain and an ancient castle. Odessa has a huge network of catacombs which were used by partisans during the German occupation of the town (there is a museum underground). The famous Kiev monastery Pechorska Lavra has relics of saints’ bodies which did not decompose over many centuries. The Bachisaray monastery (Crimea) is 800 years old. Sudak (Crimea) has a medieval fortress which is in a very good condition (almost intact). Sevastopol, a hero city which was twice besieged by the enemy (in 1853 and 1941) and both time fell after a long and bloody fight has a lot to show. You can swim in a lake which is so salty that you just can lay on the water as if it were sand. The Crimean mountains are unique because they are very close to the sea which is very deep there. Some rocks rise 50 meters from the water and there is another 50 meters of the water below. A cave in the mountains which was discovered only a few years ago and had not seen any human nor animal before has some spectacular stalactites and stalagmites and is open for tourists. There is a lot more in Ukraine, so if you are interested, please read more at the proper section of our web site.

If you are interested in visiting any of the above (or anything not on this list because there is really a lot), we can arrange it for you when you arrive in Ukraine.
